Drug Operation in Quezon City Resulted to Armed Encounter

The National Capital Region Police Chief PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS lauds the operating team from DEU Station 10 of QCPD for the successful buy-bust operation conducted along Matapat St., Brgy Pinyahan, Quezon City yesterday, 3rd day of June, 2020 at about 7:20PM.

The operation stemmed from a month long case build up, surveillance and Background Investigation wherein the operatives found out that the suspect previously has a drug case and was a former Person Deprived of Liberty in the National Bilibid Prison.

Further, it was found that he was able to dispose more or less 100 grams of shabu per week in the area of Brgy Pinyahan, Quezon City. Hence, he was included in the Brgy Drugs Watchlist.

Consequently, a buy-bust operation was plotted in coordination with PDEA NCR under control number 1001- 062020-0038.

However, after the consumation of the offense and while the police officers were about to arrest the suspect, he had a hint that he was dealing with a police officer poseur-buyer and drew his firearms from a sling bag. Posing great danger to the police officers, they were prompted to react, thus, an armed encounter ensued wounding the suspect.

The wounded suspect was identified as
Jerson Gimarangan @Kosa. He was immediately brought to East Avenue Hospital for medical treatment. However he was declared DOA at about 7:49PM by the attending physician Dr Argie Romero.

Seized from him were the following pieces of evidence to wit:

-6 medium sized heat sealed white crystalline substance believed to be shabu (subject of sale)
-2 large sized heat sealed white crystalline substance believed to be shabu (possession)
-1 sling bag colored gray
-1 digital weighing scale
-1 unit samsung analogue cellphone colored black
-1000.00 Php buy-bust money
-believed to be proceeds money worth 200.00
-1 scissors
-several pisces of empty plastic sachets
-1 folding knife (balisong)
-1 disposable lighter colored pink
-1 brgy ID card of suspect
-1 coinpurse colored black
-1 casio wristwatch colored silver

Recovered by SOCO:
-caliber 38 firearms without serial number with 4 live ammos and 1 fired cartridge case in its cylinder
-1 fired cartridge case
-1 pair of slippers colored black

The confiscated white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighs more or less 6grms with an estimated DDB value of 40, 800.00 Php.

“I commend the unwavering effort of my men in the implementation of our campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Metro. I am however saddened by the fact that this operation has to lead to an armed conflict. But our police officers were left without a choice as their lives were at stake,” said PMGEN SINAS.
