Notice of meeting from Ms. Carmen R. Zubiaga, Officer in Charge, National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) dated January 7, 2019.
This pertains to the meeting called by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the upcoming 2019 Autism Consciousness Week Celebration with the theme “Pagtuon: Tugon sa mga Pilipinong May ‘K’ Dulot ng Autismo” in observance of Proclamation 711 Declaring the Third Week of January as Autism Consciousness Week held on January 14, 2019, Monday, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at NCDA Board Room, Isidora Street, Barangay Holy Spirit Quezon City.
The meeting was presided by Ms. Nancy C. Pascual, Chairperson, DepEd and Mr Rizalino Sanchez, C, IECD, NCDA and attended by PINSP VIRNA B AQUINO, Chief FJGADS and PO2 Diana S Chavez, FJGADS, Action PNCO Regional Community Affairs and Development Division together with 33 representatives from other government agencies, NCR and San Mateo-LGU, Persons with Disability (PWDs) organizations and Autism of Society of the Philippines (ASP).
During the Meeting, Ms Mona Magno-Veluz, President of Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP), manifested that their biggest concern is for the police force to be sensitive to persons with autism and how to handle and protect them if they are the victim, suspect or witness. She further requested for NCRPO to conduct seminar on Response to Crisis of Behavior in Autism especially to the front-liners and investigators due to some reports that person with autism were mistaken as drug users since they do not make eye contact and there manifestation of mannerisms.
