Alleged Hand Grenade In QC, Properly Turned Over To Authorities

NCRPO Regional Director, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS lauded the personnel of District EOD and Canine Unit of Quezon City Police District for the recovery of alleged Hand Grenade at Barangay Hall, of Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City at about 4:40 PM on August 17, 2020.

Records show that EOD received a cellphone call from PMSg Melchor Aquino Duty STOC of Cubao Police Station-7 to Foxtrot Base regarding the alleged hand grenade.

Thereafter, at about 4:42 PM of August 17, 2020, EOD team were dispatched to the reported area on board EOD Nissan Van 09. Upon arrival thereat, EOD team immediately coordinated to PSSg Alexander Eslava, Duty Investigator of Cubao Police Station-7 on board QC-177.

Investigation disclosed that at about 4:35 PM on same date, a tricycle driver was approached by one unidentified male minor scavenger who gave him the alleged hand grenade along Ermin Garcia Street corner Cambridge Street, Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City.

Sensing eminent danger, he immediately reported the incident to Barangay Hall of Barangay E. Rodriguez who called to Cubao Police Station-7 and relayed to Foxtrot base which subsequently called to EOD unit for technical assistance.

The EOD team conducted Render Safe Procedure (RSP) on the said object and identified as one (1) piece MK-2 Fragmentation Hand Grenade (without safety lever) which was brought to EOD unit for proper safekeeping and eventual disposal.

“I would like to acknowledge the immediate reaponse of our personnel in Cubao Station and Team EOD. Indeed, instances like this require the skills of the professionals. I call on the public to immediately report to authorities if they notice something unusual like grenades or other explosives to ensure everyone’s safety”, said PMGEN SINAS.
