PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS commended the operatives of Novaliches Police Station, QCPD, personnel for the successful arrest of two (2) male suspects at about 6:00 P.M. of June 6, 2020 along Old Cabuyao Road, Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Suspects were identified as Mark Joseph M Canlas, male, 28 years old, single, welder and residing at No. 42, Diego Silang Street, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City; and Mark Paul Anthony A Olanka, male, 28 years old, single, welder and residing at No. 43 Diego Silang Street, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
Initial report disclosed that Police Officers were manning a quarantine control point during the implementation of Republic Act No. 11332 (Community Quarantine Law), when they spotted the suspects on board a motorcycle, a violation of the guidelines set by the community quarantine law pertaining to social distancing. Further, the back rider was not to wearing his protective helmet.
At that juncture, police officers immediately flagged down the said suspects and asked the driver to present his driver’s license and other pertinent documents. However, during the inspection, suspects became uneasy and refused to subject themselves for spot check.
Thereafter, suspects tried to escape by pushing the lawmen and ran away. Policemen chased the suspects that resulted in their immediate apprehension. During arrest, suspects were frisked and one (1) small heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing undetermined quantity of white crystalline substance of suspected “SHABU” placed inside the small front pocket of Canlas’ short pants was confiscated.
Recovered from the suspects were One (1) small heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing undetermined quantity of white crystalline substance suspected to be “SHABU”; and One (1) unit of Honda motorcycle, color black with “for registration” plate.
Inventory, markings and photographs of the seized items were conducted at the place of arrest in the presence of witnesses Brgy. Chairman Noel Vitug, of Brgy. Sauyo and Mr. Leody Tobias, of Integrated Journal.
The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Article 151 (Resistance and Disobedience) and R.A. 11332 (Community Quarantine Law) in Relation to Proclamation 922 (Declaring a State of Health Emergency throughout the Philippines) and Canlas will also be facing charges for violation of Sec. 11, Art. II of R.A. 9165 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs).
