Arrest of a most wanted Abu Sayyaf member

The most Wanted Abu Sayyaf member accused for Kidnapping and Illegal Detention was finally apprehended by joint efforts of the Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU)-NCRPO, Regional Intelligence Division (RID)-NCRPO, PNP – Intelligence Group (IG), and the military from NISG-NCR, NISF and NAVSOU9, SO2, NAVSOG.

     Acting on intelligence reports, the composite group of operatives conducted the manhunt operation, resulting in the arrest of ABDURAHMAN MATAUD DAIYUNG @BIZNAR SALABUDIN @ABU TALHA.

       By virtue of Warrant of Arrest of a Regional Trial Court in Basilan, Daiyung was arrested at about 9:45am of February 10, 2019 at No. 1205, M. H Del Pilar St., corner Padre Faura, Ermita, Manila.

      The probe revealed that on June 11, 2001, Abu Sayyaf Terrorist Group of Isnilon Hapilon @Abu Musab kidnapped fifteen (15) employees of Golden Harvest Plantation located in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan Province and held them captive from June to October 2001. One (1) of the kidnap victims positively identified and executed an affidavit detailing Daiyung’s participation of the crime.

     Further, investigation revealed that Daiyung was involved in the Kidapawan Bus Terminal Bombing on October 10, 2002 that resulted in the killing of Seven (7) persons and wounding of Twenty Four (24) other persons.

     The Warrant of Arrest against Daiyung issued by HON. LEO JAY T. PRINCIPE, Presiding Judge, RTC of Basilan, Ninth Judicial Region, Branch 1, Isabela, Basilan dated January 28, 2008 will be returned to the court of origin.

     “Undoubtedly, effective coordination and operation between the AFP and the PNP will result in the apprehension of the members of Abu Sayyaf Group in the country. Hindi tayo titigil sa pagtugis ng mga kriminal upang panagutin sa kanilang mga kasalanan sa batas”. – PDIR ELEAZAR
