The  Eastern Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Field Unit  (CIDG-RFU), Regional Intelligence Division, District Intelligence Unit and Pasig City Police Station in coordination with DTI FTEB successfully conducted an entrapment operations about 2:00PM of April 10, 2020 at Shell Gasoline Station along C-5 cor Julia Vargas Ave., Brgy. Ugong, Pasig City which resulted in the arrest of profiteering suspects.

Suspects were identified as:

 1. Jean Collin Villegas Tacderas, 18 years old, single, with live-in partner and an encoder of Amustech Business Outsourcing, and a resident of No. 1696 F. Muñoz, Brgy. 43, Pasay City;

2. Crisostomo Ancheta Bautista Jr., 47 years old, married, driver, and a resident of No. 1899 Reyes St., Brgy. Bancal, Makati City;

3. Hui Xu, Chinese national, 46 years old, (May 11, 1974), married, and a resident of Jilin, Province of China; and

4. Zhong Chao Zhao, 40 years old, Chinese national, and a resident of Sichuan, Province of China

The arrest was made through an information given by a Confidential Informant (CI) wherein suspects were engaged in selling of overpriced thermal scanners, thus, an operation was hatched immediately.

Case records revealed that Thermal Scanner are being sold for Php 4,300.00 beyond the DTI SRP of Php 3, 400.00.

Upon arrest, seized  pieces of evidence are as follows:

a. Eighty (80) pcs of Thermal Scanner with market value of PHP4,300.00 per piece with a total amount of PHP344,000.00;

b. One (1) pc 1,000 peso genuine bill and boodle money; and

c. One (1) Mitsubishi Expander with conduction sticker B7 K256 color gray; and d. One (1) cellphone OPPO F1 Plus color white.

 Arrested persons and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Eastern CIDG for documentation and proper disposition.

Complaints for violation of of R.A. 7581 (Price Act) as ammended by R.A. 10623 for Selling of Overpriced Infrared Thermometer n relation to Sec. 6 (c) of R.A 11469 (Bayanihan to heal as one Act) will be filed against the suspect.

PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS acknowledged the continues efforts of the CIDG-RFU to arrest people who take advantage of the high demand of necessary equipment. “I can see that CIDG RFU NCR together with the men and women of NCRPO are doing their best to protect consumers from this kind of illegal activity,” he said.

“May the series of operations being conducted by Metro cops serve as a warning to others who are planning to gain profit illegally from our fellowmen. We are ready to act on reports regarding hoarding and profiteering, we are 24/7 ready to arrest would be criminals,” he added.
