Caloocan SECU Recovers Second Alleged Vintage Bomb

PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS, RD NCRPO applauds the personnel of Station EOD Canine Unit (SECU) of Caloocan City Police Station for another accomplishment on their immediate response and safe recovery of an alleged vintage bomb at the MCU Construction Site of New Hospital Building Phase 1 and EDSA, Caloocan City at about 9:25AM on August 25, 2020.

Investigation disclosed that another suspected unexploded ordnance was accidentally discovered by Jaime Jamili, 37 years old, a Backhoe Operator, contractor of DCMS Trading and Construction and a native of Zamboanga Sibugay. Assuming the danger, the said operator immediately reported the incident to Sub-Station 5, Caloocan City Police Station.

Consequently, personnel of SECU, Caloocan CPS proceeded to the area to validate the accuracy of the report. Upon arrival at the scene, the team immediately coordinated with the first responders and conducted the Render Safety Procedure (RSP) and Pick up Carry Away (PUCA). The recovered unexploded ordnance was identified as a Rocket 2.75 inches, Projectile (Corroded). Recently, a General-Purpose Bomb, 250 pounder (Corroded) was also discovered at the same construction site.

Meanwhile, the said ordnance was brought to the EOD office for safe-keeping prior to turn-over to RECU NCR for safekeeping and eventual disposal.

PMGEN SINAS foresees probability for more discovery of unexploded ordnance that may damage properties or endanger the lives of the workers in the area if not properly recovered. “I urge the workers in the said area to be vigilant in such situations for their safety as well as to immediately report the same incident to the nearest police station for appropriate action,” he added.
