Checkpoint Chase In Qc Ended In A Shoot-Out In Pasig City

Elements of the Quezon City Police District Station 12 led by PLt Mark Manuel while conducting check point in their area of responsibility at about 7:45AM of May 5, 2020, flagged down a green Delica Van with plate no. XCV 512.

However, instead of subjecting their vehicle and themselves to mandatory inspection, the suspects ignored the checkpoint and tried to flee away.

This prompted the QCPD checkpoint team personnel to chase the suspects. At that instance, one of the suspects fired his gun towards the pursuing lawmen prompting the latter to retaliate. Upon reaching C5 road particularly in front of Subaru Car Dealership Brgy Ugong, Pasig City, said vehicle suddenly swerved on the left direction and hit the center island thereat.

The injured suspect identified as Joselito Delos Santos was brought to Rizal Medical Center while his son, Jason Delos Santos, 24 y/o, Criminology Student, both residing at #84 Salvador St, Baesa, Caloocan City was arrested.

One police officer was injured during the chase and was brought to the Medical City in Pasig for medication.

Recovered from the suspects were one (1) Taurus 9mm hand gun, two (2) magazines with live ammunition and several boxes of liquor.

“The turn of events in this supposed to be a simple vehicle inspection is extremely saddening. We have always reiterated our plea for everyone to stay home and obey all laws especially those relative to the extended ECQ. This kind of resistance is very much unnecessary,” said NCRPO Chief, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS.
