Eastwood Police Arrests a Man for Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives

The Quezon City Police District under the leadership of Metro Top Cop, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS successfully arrested one (1) male person at about 4:45 PM of April 1, 2020 at the alley of 12 floor Tower 3, No. 1 Orchard Road, Eastwood City Cyberpark, Brgy. Bagumbayan, Quezon City for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

PMGEN SINAS identified the suspect as Jose Avecilla Delos Santos III, 46 years old, male, single and resident of Unit 12-B Tower 3, No. 1 Orchard Road, Eastwood City Cyberpark, Brgy. Bagumbayan, Quezon City

Operation emanated from a complaint against Delos Santos III on March 30, 2020 wherein he received a delivery which was not intended for him. The real owner of the wines arrived and informed the security guards, thus, they called Delos Santos III. Upon confrontation, the wines were returned to the real owner.

Furthermore, at around 12:14 PM of the same date, a report was received by police station 12 wherein the suspect took another delivery but this time, he was brandishing a long firearm inside Eastwood City Cyberpark. An incident report has been filed, coordination and planning of arrest was plotted.

Further, at about 4:40 PM, the police station received another report from the duty security guard of the said establishment that the same suspect, returned to them with a long firearm, causing panic to the people around.

Acting on the report, combined elements of Eastwood Police Station, PS 12, District Intelligence Division and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit responded resulting in the arrest of suspect. Incidental to the arrest, the suspect when frisked yielded a hand grenade which was recovered by one of the operatives.

Further investigation disclosed that the complaint for Delos Santos III that day was filed at the Admin Building of the establishment wherein his actuations of carrying a firearm intimidated the other residents. Moreover, previous incident involving the same person also transpired sometime on January 28, 2019 wherein was seen in possession of an alleged firearm. The said issue had been raised to the Admin Office of the building. However, case was still pending while waiting for the proper disposition by their legal department.

Seized items from the suspect were; one (1) 9mm ANGSTADT ARMS; one (1) 9mm GLOCK pistol; and One (1) hand grenade.

The arrested suspect and recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to the police station for investigation and proper disposition.

Criminal complaint for violation of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) will be referred for inquest proceedings before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office against the arrested suspect.

“An appropriate request for the revocation of License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and Firearm Registration against suspect DELOS SANTOS III will be sent to PNP Firearms and Explosive Office, Camp Crame,” PMGEN SINAS.

“The Team NCRPO relentlessly intensifies operations to recover illegally possessed/loose firearms to prevent its utilization illegal activities. If any similar case arise, the public are encouraged to report and coordinate with the nearest police station,” he added.
