From its rigid anti-criminality and illegal drug campaign, the National Capital Region Police Office is also committed to its makakalikasan mandate through different projects that save and protect the environment.
Towards this end, NCRPO Regional Director, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS lauds the initiative of Manila Police Distict- Police Station 4 to showcase their pro nature core value through the “Gulayan sa Bahay Kubo ng Kwatro” project.
The “Gulayan sa Bahay Kubo ng Kwatro” encourages police officers to plant vegetables of their choice and name it after them. A seemingly simple deed that will generate huge impact in our environment.
The area where the vegetable plants are located will soon become an urban garden which is more than just food security. It will also generate solace, increase the general emotional and social well-being of the people and reduce stress levels that police officers might be experiencing from time to time.
Currently, the vegetables planted during the start of the project have already grown and become taller. The project gives a sense of satisfaction and happiness to the police officers who are supporting the activity. Moreover, the “bahay kubo” also causes healthier and fresher air to breathe for the police officers of Police Station 4.
“The Eco-friendly project manifests one of the PNP core values, “Makakalikasan”. I am proud of the initiative of Sampaloc Police Station and I encourage other stations to do the same. Let us remember that the improvement in our environment will always start from our small contributions,” PMGEN SINAS emphasized.
