The intensified effort of the elements of Manila Police District Station 11, Meisic Police Station resulted in the arrest of liquor ban violators along Juan Luna Street near corner Meisic Street , Binondo, Manila at about 5:00 PM of April 25, 2020.
Initial investigation disclosed that on the above stated date and time, elements of Juan Luna PCP led by PCAPT LEO C LABRADOR, were conducting checkpoint operation along Juan Luna Street.
Following the required temperature check for drivers and plain view inspection of vehicles for possible ECQ violations, the suspects were flagged down onboard a white Toyota Innova SUV, with conduction sticker No. (A6 F152) . The vehicle also has a “DO NOT DELAY” sign and “FLEXO MANUFACTURING SHUTTLE SERVICE” sticker placed visibly on the wind shield thereof.
During the conduct of thermal scanning and visual inspection, the police officers saw alcoholic beverages glaring from the back seat. The suspects were further asked for pertinent documents such as Quarantine Pass and Rapid Pass but they failed to present any.
Hence, they were apprehended and were later identified as follows:
1. MICHAEL DUHAYLUNSOD y TUASTUMBAN, 41 years old, male, With live-in partner, Grab Driver and a resident of No. 138 Rizal Avenue, Barangay 120 Grace Park, Caloocan City (Zip Code 1415); and
2. JOHN LEONARD ARGATE y SALA, 36 years old, male, married, Grab Driver and resident kf 1725 Dian Street, Palanan, Makati City (Zip Code 1235)
Recovered from their vehicle are the following items:
1. Twenty One (21) pieces of Alfonso Light Brandy 1L; and
2. Twenty Three (23) pieces of Red Horse 500ML.
NCRPO Regional Director PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS expressed his dismay over the continuing disregard of some citizens over existing laws relative to the extended ECQ amid the fight against the unseen.
“Countless times have we reiterated our plea to our people to please do their part and obey all existing laws especially ECQ to aid in flattening the curve and ultimately putting an end to the health crisis that we are facing today. However, there are still a few who takes the risk and flagrantly violates existing protocols. In instances like this, we guarantee among our law abiding citizens that the full force of the law will be imposed against these violators,” said PMGEN SINAS.
The arrested suspects will be facing charges for violation of E.O. 18 which imposes Liquor Ban in the City of Manila, R.A. 11469 otherwise known as the “Bayanihan to Heal As One Act”, R.A. 11332 “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases Health Events of Public Health Concern Act” and ART 151 of RPC in relation to Proclamation Order 922 and 929.
