The National Capital Region Police Office under the leadership of its energetic Regional Director DEBOLD M SINAS intensified its campaign against violators of ECQ related laws inside gated villages, condos and other exclusive communities in the Metro.
Towards this end, Chief NCRPO ordered all Police Districts to ensure compliance of ECQ protocols especially inside exclusive communities in close coordination with their respective LGUs.
Meanwhile in BGC Taguig City, PCP Commander, PMAJ JOSEPH AUSTRIA received a phone call from the office of the City Mayor regarding a complaint on violation of ECQ inside Avida Towers, Serendra and Pacific Plaza. Allegedly, the aforementioned communities continue to operate their public amenities such as pools and the like in flagrant violation of protocols to the wearing of face masks and observance of social distancing. This prompted the elements of BGC Taguig PCP to conduct validation. They requested for incident report from the management of the establishments and the two establishments complied except for Pacific Plaza.
With the inaction and disregard shown by the property management, PMAJ AUSTRIA was compelled to proceed to Pacific Plaza with three (3) others on board MC J23, MC DMax and MC 601 at about 4:27 PM on April 19, 2020.
Upon arrival in the property, they saw a number of persons hanging around the swimming pool of Pacific Plaza. They were not wearing masks and were not observing social distancing. They were politely informed and warned that they are violating ECQ related laws. Everyone was requested to leave the pool and stay inside their units.
PMAJ AUSTRIA conversed with the property manager to inform him of the strict implementation of ECQ related laws especially the wearing of masks and observance of social distancing which does not exempt private establishments like condominiums. The property manager however insisted that their premises is CoViD19 free, hence, justifying the use of their public amenities. He continued to talk harshly to PMAJ AUSTRIA forcing the latter to just walk away to avoid further chaotic scene.
“The policemen are merely acting on the complaint from the City Hall. The violators are not excused nor exempted from the national directive to use face masks, observe social distancing and the like. Being law enforcers we are merely implementing the directives because as we all know, that is a common area and we are putting the life of the people inside that community at risk. The policemen politely communicated their intention to inform the management and the residents to observe the law. They did not expect such a disrespectful treatment from the management,” said PMGEN SINAS.
The elements of BGC PCP 7 are now investigating the matter to determine the appropriate charges that may be filed against the management of the establishment for violation of ECQ related laws.
“Let us do our share and cooperate. We are in a battle against the unseen. This is a pandemic and there is no way that we can go through this hurdle without working as one. The virus is not moving, we are! We stop moving, the virus dies on its own. This is the logic why we have been discouraged to use public places and are mandated to wear face masks and just stay in the comfort of our homes. Please refrain from violating the law. This is for your own good and for our Nation to finally heal as one,” he added.
