The National Capital Region Police Office spearheaded by the Regional Legal Office has started holding series of Firecrackers Safety Seminars ahead of the yuletide season to minimize fireworks-related injuries and causalities during the holidays.
POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL DEBOLD M SINAS, Acting Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office, said the seminars were launched that targeted all personnel within the five districts of NCRPO including those assigned at the Regional Headquarters.
“The seminar kicked off yesterday, December 10, 2019 at Northern Police District which highlighted the lessons learned from past incidents, relevant laws and regulations on fireworks and safety in handling procedures and updates as well as innovations being implemented by the Philippine National Police,” PBGEN SINAS said.
Meanwhile, the directors of five districts welcomed the kick-off of the seminars and have joined hands with the NCRPO Chief in conducting the seminars.
PBGEN SINAS said other fireworks safety seminars are also scheduled to be conducted in the Manila Police District this December 12, December 13 in Southern Police District, December 16 in NCRPO Regional Headquarters, December 18 in Eastern Police District and December 20 in Quezon City Police District.
“We cannot discount the incidents that were caused by negligence, blatant disregard of safety standards and violation of rules and regulations. Sudden loss of lives and livelihood could have been prevented if only extraordinary diligence was observed,” NCRPO Chief said.
“Vigilance and compliance is a shared responsibility among the police officers, industry stakeholders and the community. We must work together to achieve our collective aspiration for a safe and joyous Christmas and New Year celebration,” he added. ###
