The National Capital Region Police Office has fielded a total of 551 men and women in uniform in the Bureau of Corrections as its equitable participation in the whole of government approach to holistically cleanse BuCor.
NCRPO Regional Director PMGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR led the augmentation which was formalized through a Send Off Ceremony held at Camp Bagong Diwa together with the Command Group of NCRPO on October 1.
Thereafter, said manpower comprised of 548 Police Non Commissioned Officer and 3 Police Non Commissioned Officer were immediately deployed at the New Bilibid Prison to replace BuCor personnel who were subjected to retraining and evaluation.
NCRPO Chief said that the augmentation was “necessary” as NCRPO heed the request of the new BuCor Director General GERALD BANTAG for additional force in effecting critically crafted reforms to clean the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) off from anomalies and corruption to which is tantamount for the peace and order of the country’s main insular penitentiary.
The newly-installed BuCor Director’s request for NCRPO’s manpower was given clearance by the Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año and PNP Chief, PGEN OSCAR DAVID ALBAYALDE.
Several days after deployment, Metro Manila top cop paid a visit out of courtesy to BuCor Director General Gerald Bantag on October 4 wherein both delineated NCRPO’s role in the conduct of holistic and sustained reforms at the New Bilibid Prison not only to ensure peace and order but also to get rid of the modus operandi of convicted felons, particularly those engaged in illegal drugs activities.
For his part, PMGEN ELEAZAR particularly discussed with GENERAL BANTAG the establishment of Quad Inter Force’ liaison office in the premises of NBP to beef-up coordination and intelligence-sharing to thwart any attempt of any convicted drug lords to communicate with their tentacles outside the NBP for the continuation of their drug operations.
Alongside of his visit to General Bantag on that same day, PMGEN ELEAZAR also meet his men and checked upon them to assess and boost their morale and make sure that their welfare is being prioritized in the course of their service in NBP.
NCRPO Chief PMGEN ELEAZAR reminded the NCRPO personnel detailed at the NBP not to give in to all sorts of temptation being offered by any convicts.
“Huwag ninyong sisirain ang mataas na tiwala sa atin ng bagong itinalagang pinuno ng Bureau of Corrections,” NCRPO chief emphasized in his address.
“Ang pagsasa-ayos ng pamamalakad sa New Blibid Prisons would be your greatest contribution to the BuCor, to the PNP and to the Philippine Government. Take this as your chance to prove your worth as police officers, to show the public how disciplined and determined NCRPO personnel are,” PMGEN ELEAZAR added.
Meanwhile, PMGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR said that the interventions engraved in the blueprint of the Intensified Cleanliness Policy ensures that NCRPO personnel will never be corrupted inside the NBP.
