NPD Apprehends 53 Cockfighters In Valenzuela City

PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS hailed the operatives of Northern Police District for the arrest of Fifty-Three (53) persons for violation of PD 1602 (Illegal Cockfighting) on July 2, 2020 at about 1:50PM along Lamesa St., Brgy. Ugong Valenzuela City.

Records show that the Duty Desk Officer received a telephone call from a concerned citizen regarding illegal cockfighting activity at Lamesa St., Barangay Ugong Valenzuela City. Upon validation of the report, joint operatives of NPD-District Special Operations Unit together with District Mobile Force Battalion and Valenzuela City Police Station were dispatched to conduct a police operation.

Thereafter, operatives caught the suspects engaged in illegal activity locally known as “tupada”, thus, operatives immediately effected the arrest. 53 persons were arrested, but some were able to evade arrest.

Seized from the suspects were Fifteen (15) pcs. of live fighting cocks, Two (2) dead fighting cocks; Assorted cockfighting paraphernalia;  One (1) unit Cal. 40 Glock Gen3 pistol with 2 magazines and 24 live ammunition; and Bet Money amounting to Seven Hundred Twenty-One Thousand Three Hundred Pesos (P721,300.00) in different denominations.

Suspects were brought to the nearest medical hospital and will be brought to DSOU Office for documentation pending filing of appropriate charges in court. Afterwards, they will be turned-over to Valenzuela City Police Station Custodial Facility for detention.

Criminal complaints for violation of P.D 1602 (Illegal Cock Fighting) in relation to Proclamation No. 922 (Declaring a State of Public Health Emergency Throughout The Philippines) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act of 2012) will be filed against the suspects.

“May this serve as a stern warning to anyone who dares to operate illegal cockfighting. The public constantly supports Team NCRPO by reporting to us the conduct of “tupada” and other illegal activities within their area. Therefore, no matter where you hide, NCRPO is ready to go after you,” said PMGEN SINAS.
