Official Press Statement of
NCRPO Regional Director PMGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR
for National Heroes Day

Today, National Heroes Day is a special day for all Filipinos. Today we pay tribute to the Filipinos who put their lives on the line to preserve the precious freedom of our country.

I know how proud you must be and I celebrate this day with you, as millions of Filipinos do.

Alam niyo po, my father, Staff Sgt. Victor Eleazar was a bonafide Philippine Veteran.

At a tender age of 17 years, my father was running from one battlefront to another in our province of Quezon, bringing supplies and food to our fighting guerillas during the war against the Japanese in World War 2. Tirelessly and bravely he did his task to help preserve the sacred freedom and dignity of our beloved country.

Today is a good day for my family to celebrate the heroism of my father. Today is even a greater day to celebrate the heroism of all our National Heroes most specially those who gave up their lives for our freedom – names like Jose Rizal, Apolinario Mabini, Emilio Aguinaldo, Andres Bonifacio, the Luna Brothers, Gregorio del Pilar and many other renowned names in our colorful history.

On behalf of the 28,000 men and women of the National Capital Region Police Office, I salute the brave national heroes of our country. I shall also whisper a prayer that God Almighty bless and keep them always!

Mabuhay ang Sambayanang Pilipino!
