Suspects Nabbed For Violating Liquor Ban Amid Stricter ECQ

Elements of the Quezon City Police Station 3  led by PLT ANGELO REGIO intercepted one (1) unit Mitsubishi L300 Van, color white with plate number IAB6148 at about 3:40 Pm of April 21, 2020, in one of its established Quarantine Control Points along KM 10, NLEX North Bound, Boundary, Barangay Balon  Bato, Quezon City.

Initial investigation disclosed that the incident transpired while the above mentioned police officers were conducting security assistance while manning the QCP pursuant to the strict implementation of the directives embodied in relation to the enhanced community quarantine (COVID19).

As part of the security protocol, the suspects onboard their vehicle (L300) was flagged down purposely for verification and security check. It was then that the above-named police officers saw boxes of vodka inside their vehicle in plain view. Further, the suspects presented Delivery Reciepts which do not match with the articles loaded inside the vehicle.

Consequently, the suspects were arrested and identified to be the following persons:

1. JOSEPH CHRISTIAN ELANGA y ERIPSE, 29 years old, (May 9, 1991), single, driver, native of antique and 1B Sunblest Compound KM 25, West Service Road, Mandaluyong; and

2. PATRICK VELASCO y OJALDON, 21 years old, (May 30, 1998) single, helper native of Pasig City and a resident of No. 2289 Chino Rocess Avenue Extension, Magallanes, Makati City.                                                        

Meanwhile, further inspection of the vehicle disclosed that it was loaded with the following items:

70 boxes of Red Square Vodka

12 Boxes of Wine of Chile

4 Boxes Genesis

3 Boxes of Jules Tailor

2 Boxes of Soleca

2 Boxes of Belgravia

48 pcs of assorted vodka and wines

The suspects were initially brought to Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) for physical examination and issuance of Provisional Medico Legal Certificate.  Later they were brought to Station 3, QCPD for investigation and proper disposition. They will be facing charges for violation of the ECQ related laws pursuant to Proclamation Number 922.

NCRPO Chief PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS commended his men for continuously doing their jobs well despite the stringent call of duty considering the extension of the enhanced community quarantine.

“Everyone is expected to be aware that in line with the implementation of the extended ECQ, most cities implemented liquor ban within their respective areas of responsibilities. Hence, we expect that everyone will adhere to this directive to prevent the pain of facing legal charges especially during this health crisis,” said PMGEN SINAS.
