TWO KOREAN PUPC ESCAPED; ONE RE-CAPTURED, THE OTHER STILL SUBJECT TO MANHUNT OPERATION

PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS, Chief, NCRPO ordered for the immediate re-arrest and recapture of the Korean suspect who escaped from detention last October 10, 2020 at 11:45PM at the detention cell of Criminal Investigation Detection Group, Metro Manila District Field Unit (CIDG MMDFU) inside Southern Police District Headquarters.

The escapees were identified as Kwon Kyeok Soo, male, of legal age, Korean National and Yeon Jun Lim, male, of legal age, Korean National.

According to the initial report, one (1) of the PUPC identified as Yeon Jun Lim asked the duty jailer to use the comfort room outside the detention cell. Upon opening, Yeon Jun Lim choked and hit the police officer many times In the head. The other PUPC, Kwon Hyuk Soo was able to get out of the cell and aided Yeon Jun Lim.

The duo then took the service firearm of the police officer and at gun point locked the front door leaving him inside while the suspects immediately fled by jumping from the window with the firearm.

Thereafter, duty jailer immediately sought assistance from DMFB and base police personnel. The camp was locked down and all units assisted in locating the escapees. All nearby police stations were also informed and directed to conduct checkpoints.

The hot pursuit resulted to the apprehension of Kwon Hyeo So by the members of the base police at about 12:59 am of October 11, 2020 while Yeon Jun Lim remains at large.

PMGEN SINAS instructed to conduct investigation to determine culpability of the duty jailer. Regional Director, Regional Internal Affairs Service-NCR was also requested to conduct the investigation for the administrative case.

“Intensified manhunt operation against the remaining escapee continues. Series of information gathering, surveillance and monitoring of his possible whereabouts are now being undertaken in order to ensure his re-arrest the soonest possible time,” said PMGEN SINAS.
