National Capital Region Police Office Chief, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS commended the personnel of the La Loma Police Station and the District Explosive Ordnance Disposal Canine Unit of Quezon City Police District for their immediate response and safe recovery of a suspected Vintage Bomb at a construction site in Quezon City.
Investigation disclosed that on September 17, 2020 at about 3:00PM, Mr. Oliver Garcia y Paragas, male, time keeper of the ongoing construction project, accidentally unearthed an alleged military ordnance while doing excavation works. Anticipating the danger, Garcia reported the incident to Mr Simon Lee, Construction Engineer who immediately reported and sought the assistance of La Loma Police Station.
Subsequently, personnel of La Loma Police Station coordinated with the personnel of District Explosive Ordnance Disposal Canine Unit. Upon arrival at the site, EOD personnel conducted Render Safe Procedure (RSP) on the mentioned alleged vintage bomb and identified the alleged vintage bomb as one (1) unit of Projectile 40mm HE Japanese (Corroded).
The Unexploded Ordnance is currently under the custody of EOD Team for safekeeping and eventual disposal.
PMGEN SINAS applauded the personnel of PS-1 and DECU, QCPD for their promptness and efficiency in responding to incidents reported especially those that could endanger the lives of the people. “I also encourage our citizens to continuously report to authorities any suspicious items, individuals or illegal activities for appropriate response,” PMGEN SINAS stated.
